8-month-old killed, 5 children hurt in Antioch apartment fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Neighbors are shocked after a baby was killed and 5 children were injured during an early morning apartment fire.

Investigators were told the parents were at a nightclub when the fire started around 2a.m. at the Hickory Lake Apartments on Apache Trail in Antioch. Two people nearby saw the fire and called 911 as a 6-year-old boy was seen running out of the apartment screaming that his siblings were inside.

Bicentennial Park evacuated due to flooding as Harpeth River continues to rise

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — The rain has stopped, but rivers and creeks are continuing to rise, including the Harpeth River in Williamson County.

Franklin’s Bicentennial Park was evacuated due to the ongoing flooding. The Harpeth is currently past 21 feet and 22 feet means trouble, according to Franklin police; so they went ahead and shut down the park.

Other parts of Williamson County also saw problems and several roads were closed. At one time, more than 30 streets were closed in Williamson County.

Nashville Zoo opening new, state-of-the-art veterinary center

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — This week, the Nashville Zoo is opening their new state-of-the-art veterinary center. Furry and feathered patients are already being treated at the HCA Healthcare Veterinary Center.

“It’s amazing,” said Dr. Heather Robertson, Nashville Zoo Director of Veterinary Services, “We are just thrilled to be in the new space and have all this equipment.”

The clinic is 24,000 square feet.

Parks & Rec Offers Spring Break Camps for Kids

Keep the kids busy over Spring break with camps and activities at Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) facilities.

March 18-20: Mr. Bond Science Guys: Engineering Camp – Be an engineer and learn how engineering is involved in everything we do. This camp features hands on learning where kids will design bridges, create robots, and test out circuitry with DIY dough circuits. Class will meet Monday – Wednesday, March 18 – 20 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. For ages 5-12. Cost is $111.
